During 14th and 15th March nanoCure Asia performed corrosion passivation treatment in the ballast water tanks of MV Trinity Explorer in Singapore. Trinity Offshore is a Group of Companies based in Singapore started in 1991 as a ship management company. Previously known as Agensea Pte Ltd.

The Group today owns and operates a fleet of specialized offshore support vessels including accommodation vessels / barges (accommodation ranges from 50 to 310 berths), survey vessels, anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS), utility vessels, crewboats, supply vessels and other offshore support work boats servicing the offshore oil & gas and other related industries. Project Preparations

1. INTRODUCTION NANOCURE INTRODUCED THE COMPANY AND THE PRODUCTS IN A MEETING BEFOREHAND OF THE PRESENTATION TO THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF TRINTY OFFSHORE. WITHIN THIS MEETING IT WAS AGREED TO HAVE A PRESENTATION OF ONE OF THE AFT BALLASTTANKS OF THE VESSEL MV TRINITY EXPLORER. TRINITY OFFSHORE IS A SERVICE PROVIDER FOR THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY WITH 13 VESSELS. THE MV TRINITY EXPLORER IS ABOUT 40 YEARS OLD AND EQUIPPED AND USED FOR OFFSHORE SERVICES FOR THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY SUCH AS TEST DRILLING. HEAVY CORROSION, ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, HEAT INSULATION, ETC ARE TYPICAL PROBLEMS.

2. CREW BRIEFING A SHORT BRIEFING OF NCP AND HOW THE MATERIAL IS WORKING WAS GIVEN TO THE CREW. THE CREW GOT CURIOUS ABOUT THE INOVATIVE AND COST EFFICIENT SOLUTION AND TOGETHER WITH THE ADVISE OF NANOCURE ASIA TECHNICAL CONSULTANT, THE CREW MANAGED ALL SO THAT A 100% COATING WAS ENSURED OF THE nC NANO CORROSION PASSIVATION TREATMENT.

3. STATUS REPORT

I. DAY 1

Corrosion passivation Trinity Offshore

PREPARATION OF BALLASTTANK AFT STARBOARD. TANK WAS DRY, SOME PAINT COATING HAS BEEN DONE BY THE CREW ALREADY. WATER HAS TO BE PUMPED IN WITH A SOUND PIPE FROM THE TOP. AFTER 18LITER OF NCP HAS BEEN FILLED THRU THE SOUND PIPE, WATER WAS PUMPED SLOWLY TO GIVE THE SOLUTION THE CHANCE TO SETTLE ON THE SURFACE OF THE WATER. THAN WATER WAS PUMPED (ABOUT 5-8CM PER MINUTE).

II. DAY 2

THANKS TO CAREFUL EFFORT OF THE CREW, A 100% COVERAGE OF THE COATING WAS ACHIEVED. REMAINING LIQUID WAS USED FOR A SECOND TREATMENT TO GET THE BEST SOLUTION.

 

III. DAY 7

NCP REACTED AS EXPECTED AND THE CORROSION HAS BE PASSIVATED AND STOPPED. CONTINUED PROGRESS OF THE NCP VISIBLE.

 

IV. DAY 14

corrosion passivation ballastwater tanks after 14 days

PASSIVATION IS PERFECTELY DONE VERY GOOD RESULTS ARE VISIBLE. REMAINING MATERIAL IS ADVISED TO BE USED ONE MORE TIME TO USE 100% OF NCP.
